Located at the base of the Ouachita Mountains in the Southwest region of the State of Arkansas, Nashville is a quaint community filled with warm, friendly people. Nashville has excellent schools, wonderful small businesses, top-notch industry, and access to beautiful recreational facilities.
Nashville was recognized by the State of Arkansas in 2002 as being an Arkansas Community of Excellence. Another recognition of which we boast is being a Tree City U.S.A. community, received due to the care and preservation of trees and greenery within Nashville.
The city of Nashville is located in Howard County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 4,627 at the 2010 census. Nashville is the county seat of Howard County.
In June 1848, property was secured at the corner of Ft. Smith (now North Main Street and Pope Street). The town was given the name of Mine Creek, which remained until 1853, when Michael Womack moved here from Nashville, Tennessee, and changed the name to "Nashville" after his Tennessee roots. The unofficial name was Hell's Valley, but it was an unworthy name of Christian citizens.
There are many historical sites that can be visited including the location of the first Dillard's department store, the Nashville Post Office, beautiful historical homes, and the first church in Nashville - First Baptist Church.
Today, Nashville has flourished into an up and coming town. It has a county-owned, newly built hospital that has become a major health service for the area. Industries like Tyson, Husqvarna, Mission Plastics, and PIlgrims Pride keeps our town thriving. Also our historic downtown Main Street is always busy with shoppers visiting local stores.
Nashville enjoys a 40-acre city park, which holds the famous dinosaur tracks, as well as a local Farmer's Market and Jamison Peach Farm for seasonal peach picking. There are nearby activities for the entire family to enjoy such as lakes, Crater of Diamonds State Park, Historic Washington State Park, Millwood Lake State Park, Daisy State Park and Cossatot River State Park.

Nashville Parks and Recreation Commission
The Nashville Parks and Recreation Commission is composed of seven (7) citizens, five who reside inside the City Limits of Nashville and two who reside in Howard County. Commissioners are appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by a majority vote of the City Council.
The Nashville Parks & Recreation Commission currently employs five full time and four part time staff and manages approximately 165 acres of park land and facilities.
